Job Title: Network Manager - Technical Services

Position Level: Manager

Are you ready to lead the charge in network innovation and reliability? We're seeking a dynamic Network Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, Technical Services, you'll spearhead our Network Team, driving the design, implementation, and optimization of our network infrastructure. With your expertise in Data Center switching, Campus LAN, Wireless, routing and switching protocols, VoIP systems, and Cloud networking, you'll ensure our network remains secure, reliable, and scalable. Leading a team of skilled engineers, you'll collaborate across departments to uphold the highest standards of network performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Data Center Networking:

Design, implement and manage Data Center network architecture, including switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.

Configure and optimize network connectivity within the Data Center environment to ensure high availability, performance, and security.

Implement network segmentation, VLANs, and other technologies to isolate and protect sensitive data and applications.

2. Routing and Switching:

Manage and maintain enterprise routing and switching infrastructure, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Optimize routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) to ensure efficient traffic routing and fast convergence in the event of network failures.

Implement Quality of Service (QoS) policies to prioritize network traffic and optimize performance for critical applications.

3. Voice over IP (VoIP) Systems:

Design, deploy, and manage VoIP telephony systems, including IP PBX, SPI trunking, and VoIP gateways.

Configure and troubleshoot VoIP protocols and codecs to ensure high-quality voice communication across the network.

Collaborate with telecommunications providers and vendors to optimize VoIP service delivery and troubleshoot connectivity issues.

4. Wireless Networking:

Plan, deploy, and manage wireless network infrastructure, including access points, controllers, and wireless security protocols.

Optimize wireless coverage, capacity, and performance to meet the demands of users across various locations and environments.

Implement security measures such as WPA2, 802.1x authentication, and wireless intrusion detection/prevention systems to protect against unauthorized access and threats.

5. Campus LAN/WAN:

Design and maintain Campus LAN and WAN infrastructure to provide connectivity for end-users, devices, and applications across multiple locations.

Configure and optimize WAN connectivity, including MPLS, VPN and SD-WAN technologies, to ensure reliable and efficient network access.

Implement redundancy and failover mechanisms to enhance network reliability and minimize downtime.

6. Network Monitoring:

Deploy and configure network monitoring tools and systems to continuously monitor network performance, availability, and security.

Analyze network traffic, logs, alerts to identify performance bottlenecks, security threats, and other issues.

Develop and maintain network monitoring dashboards, reports, and alerts to provide visibility into network health and performance metrics.

7. Security and Compliance:

Develop and enforce network security policies, access controls, and encryption mechanisms to safeguard network infrastructure and data.

Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.

Implement security best practices and collaborate with security teams to respond to security incidents and emerging threats.

8. Hybrid Cloud and Third-party VPN:

Configure and optimize network connectivity between public cloud platforms ( e.g Azure, AWS) and on-premise infrastructure.

Configure and optimize network connectivity between third-party providers and on-premises infrastructure.

Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and reliability.

9. Team leadership and Collaboration:

Lead and mentor a team of network engineers, providing guidance, training, and professional opportunities.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, security analysts, and application developers, to support business initiatives and project requirements.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates to network projects, performance metrics, and upcoming changes.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE:

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field

7+ years of experience in network administration/engineering, with expertise in data center switching, routing and switching, VoIP, wireless, and campus LAN/WAN technologies

Proficiency in networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, HSRP, MPLS, SIP, and 802.11 standards.

Hands-on experience with enterprise networking equipment and platforms.

Strong understanding of network security principles and technologies, such as firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access control lists (ACLs).

Experience with VoIP telephony systems, IP PBX platforms, and SIP trunking providers

Familiarity with wireless networking concepts, including RF fundamentals, WLAN design principles and spectrum analysis tools.

Relevant certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCNP, CCIE) are highly desirable.

ITIL Foundation Certification
