Bamiyan Modern Afghan Cuisine, Braddon (Canberra, ACT) is looking for an experienced Chef with a professional and committed approach who enjoys working in a dynamic and productive team environment. It is a full time position with minimum 38 hours per week.
The successful applicant should have extensive experience in preparing and cooking authentic Afghan cuisine. The preference will also given to the applicants who have experience in Pakistani or Indian cuisines.
Essential criteria
At least two years experience
In depth knowledge of Afghan cuisines or Indian cuisine or Pakistani cuisines
Proficient in the use of Tandoor oven and chargrill
Prepare and serve items of our menu to a high standard
Ability to plan menus for different cultural/dietary/allergen requirements
Ability to manage a small team of cooks and work as part of a team to create a safe and friendly work environment
Authentic Menu creations across Lunch and dinner services.
Immaculate personal presentation standards as this is a customer facing position
Flexibility with working hours
Ensure that food/ perishable items are stored in a safe and hygienic manner. In accordance with the food safety standards.
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to cultivate strong relationships in a team-based environment.
