Overview:
Our client is North America’s largest distributor of decorative surfaces, high-grade hardwood lumber, sheet goods, architectural millwork and non-structural architectural grade building products to the residential and commercial construction markets. They operate a North American network of over sixty distribution centres, as well as one sawmill and kiln drying operation. They are currently seeking a Director of Human Resources to join their amazing team. The primary function of this role includes providing support to outside sales reps by building rapport and maintaining customer relationships, following through on customer POs, and ensuring inventory is stocked as required, including purchasing. The sales desk receives inbound customer orders but also grows the business by actively upselling and promoting.
What you will be doing:
Handle inbound sales calls and will be the main point of contact for the Outside Sales staff.
Work for and with outside sales staff by maintaining the sample room, sending sample’s, and produce professional quotes
Actively manage and grow a dedicated sales territory that includes a pre-existing customer base
Provide customers with professional recommendations on options as well as pricing and availability data to meet customers' needs
Responsible for Will Call orders.
Actively sell and service existing accounts via phone and email
Prospect and develop new, exciting business relationships
Learn about and promote new product lines.
Develop relationships with vendor base, assist in procuring materials and manage customer program inventories.
Deliver exceptional customer service
Training Program- As part of the client’s unique development program, their Sales Reps In Training work in the warehouse for a minimum of 3 months
What you must have:
Post secondary education from a recognized institution
Industry experience (preference for lumber industry)
Experience in quoting, purchasing and inventory management
Experience in company’s product lines is beneficial
Excellent communicator, good phone manner and email skills.
Good math competency.
Proficient with computers.
Desire to work in a customer-centric sales role, excellent customer service skills and ability to upsell
Strong follow up skills
Problem solver, takes initiative, makes decision
Good organizational and time management skills. Attention to detail
Sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Positive, proactive and energetic attitude
Ability to work well independently as well as being comfortable working with staff at all levels in the organization
