Are you interested in exploring a career in health care IT? We encourage you to apply to our Summer IT Internship position!

The Summer 2024 IT Internship program will run from Monday, June 3 (or Monday, June 10) - Friday, August 16, 2024. Full-time hours (40 hours a week), Monday - Friday, regular/daytime business hours. The job is located in-person in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Information Technology interns will be assigned to a team within IT based on their skills, experience, interests, as well as current business needs. Interns will work on assigned projects while benefiting from healthcare IT experience and close collaboration with knowledgeable professionals and technology leaders. Additionally, interns will support the IT staff with software, hardware and other technology tasks and issues. They will have the opportunity to attend team and department meetings.

Interns must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Job Expectations:

Under general direction and mentorship from IT leaders, deliver on work you're doing, which could include:

Gathering, analyzing, and detailing business requirements, procurement and deployment of new software and hardware, definition and implementation of processes.

Understanding the business issues that need to be solved and assist in identifying potential solutions that help address business needs.

Developing a solid grasp in systems, processes and data relating to the assigned area or project. Continually improve analysis skills via on the job learning and standard methodologies.

Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with technology teams and business partners. Work efficiently to ensure that solution delivery is timely, within cost estimates and meets business needs.

Fairview will provide a laptop to each intern to use during the duration of their internship. The intern must maintain the confidentiality of information gained as a result of internship.

Partner with patient care giver in care/decision making.

Provide patient/customer education based on an assessment of learning needs of patient/care giver/customer.

IT Interns are required to complete system required learning relevant to the role and follow all relevant laws, regulation, and policies.

Qualifications:

Required

Education

Enrolled as a full-time or part-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate degree with a minimum cumulative 3.0 Grade Point Average.

Completing a degree in one of the following: computer science, math, management information systems or business management.

Experience

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Power Point, Word, Visio)

Community and/or campus involvement

Ability to adapt to a changing environment

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to collaborate

Naturally inquisitive and self-motivated to find solutions

Curiosity about challenging current process and providing suggestions for change.

Preferred

Experience within the healthcare industry

Previous IT Internship experience

Technical skills including software development lifecycle
