Job Description

BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTION

Human Resources works in partnership with CIBC’s business units to enhance organizational performance, the employee experience and advance CIBC’s overall corporate strategy. The group delivers integrated human resources solutions in recruitment, talent management, training and development, performance management and measurement, organizational design, employee relations, as well as policy and operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

This Rewards, Pension and Benefits role is to provide regional compensation, pension and benefit subject matter expertise and support to the global rewards and governance teams based in Toronto and with internal HR partners in the Europe and Asia Pacific Regions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Remuneration:

Working with the HR Governance team ensure that the UK, Luxembourg and Asia countries’ remuneration-related policies and processes are compliant with regulatory requirements and expectations through a regular review of variable compensation plans and fixed pay components.

Produce remuneration-related regulatory submissions and oversee the preparation and review of regulatory reporting data tables (eg. Pilar 3, High earners report).

Interpret and action with internal reward partners the implications for CIBC of new or revised remuneration regulation by drafting responses to consultations and reviewing the alignment of internal practices through detailed gap analyses.

Provide technical rewards expertise (e.g. offer recommendations, internal and external benchmarking, buy out calculations for new hires or gender diversity analysis) surrounding the day to day reward operations for the regions.

Be a key member of the team during the annual compensation review process to ensure proper execution and implementation locally and globally. Support the creation of compensation committee presentations, data analysis around Material Risk Takers, Deferral Plans, bonus pool evolution, etc. for the UK Remuneration Committee and Luxembourg Board meetings.

Material Risk Taker Register:

Maintain the MRT list and MRT methodology documents ensuring it is reviewed in line with requirements.

Ensure processes are in place to capture all MRTs upon hiring, transfer etc..

Pension & Benefits:

Manage the annual benefits renewals for the region.

Ensure the Pension plan submits all regulatory returns in a timely manner.

Deep expertise in rewards, benefits and pension in a financial services environment.

Excellent planning, organizational and facilitation skills with attention to detail

Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent analytical skills and an ability to problem solve

Client service driven with strong organizational and project management skills

Cross-Functional Relationships

This job interfaces with other HR counterparts across Europe, Asia and north America and will work in partnership with Centres of Expertise globally (eg. rewards, pension, benefits)

Compliance Requirements

Degree or equivalent required

A minimum 8 years rewards experience in a high volume, fast paced corporate environment within the financial industry

Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large amounts of data

Outstanding client service orientation and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with all levels of management in a matrix environment

Understanding of systems such as Workday is a plus

Must be a self-starter, strong team player; and possess strong organizational and time management skills

Experience of partnering with the business to prepare an appropriate campus recruitment calendar and strategy

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail

Ability to communicate, influence, and educate partners and business leaders

Ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks from a variety of sources

Ability to simultaneously manage tight timelines on various tasks of equal importance
