Responsibilities for the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach positions include, but are not limited to the following:
Independent planning and implementation of a season long plan for a set group of student-athletes
Participating in all aspects of practice instruction and game coaching
Creating scouting reports, as assigned by the Head Coach, and providing instruction to team-related strategy derived from scouting reports
Recruiting and evaluating prospective student-athletes through the use of technology; conducting contacts and evaluations while adhering to all NCAA regulations
Making recommendations to the Head Coach and recruiting coordinator related to visits and scholarship offers
Assisting with academic support, fundraising activities, and community service, including communication and outreach to alumni
Knowledge of and adhering to NCAA rules
Completing recruiting logs and other end-of-year summaries and correspondence within ARMS and in coordination with the compliance office
Performing other duties as assigned by the Head Coach
The work hours for this position include nights and weekends, as required by the athletics schedule. Travel is required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and successful basketball coaching experience at the camp/clinic, high school, or collegiate level and/or experience as a Division I Director of Basketball Operations
Ability to train and recruit at the Division I collegiate level
Ability to accept and carry out assigned program and responsibilities
Ability to communicate effectively and work well with other coaches, students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community
Ability to pass the NCAA recruiting test and have a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
Ability to work collaboratively within the structure and framework of an athletics department and university
A demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically
A demonstrated commitment to building a positive team culture
A commitment to personal and professional development of student-athletes
Preferred Qualification
Experience as a Division I student-athlete
