Assistant Director, Marketing - Graduate & Continuing Education

Job Summary:

Reporting to the senior director of marketing in the Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) at Muhlenberg College, the assistant director of marketing for graduate and continuing education is the lead communications and marketing liaison responsible for collaboratively planning, creating, and managing marketing strategies, campaigns, tactics, and assets that attract, engage and enroll graduate and continuing education students in Muhlenberg’s programs. Prioritizing graduate & continuing education (GCE) enrollment marketing, the assistant director is the primary liaison between OCM and GCE. They are responsible for collaborating closely with GCE colleagues and working within OCM systems and processes to achieve GCE marketing and communications goals. The assistant director will ensure all GCE marketing and communications endeavors align and comply with Muhlenberg College brand standards and messaging framework. The assistant director will also be a key partner in the College’s web, social and digital marketing strategy. The assistant oversees GCE marketing and communications to raise awareness, attract prospective students and corporate partners, and support enrollment and revenue goals for the College’s graduate and continuing education programs. Their responsibilities span both strategic planning and tactical implementation areas.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as the primary liaison between OCM and GCE to ensure proper resources and attention are provided to execute marketing campaigns to promote and recruit into GCE programs, events, and services to prospective students and corporate partners.

Collaborate meaningfully and successfully with OCM colleagues to produce top-quality, on-brand marketing assets and other content that advances Graduate and Continuing Education at Muhlenberg.

Collaborate with OCM and GCE to integrate Graduate and Continuing Education work into a unified, institutional branding strategy that elevates the College’s image in the community, including coordinating large-scale marketing and recruitment projects.

In collaboration with GCE and OCM leadership and the College's marketing agency partners, help create and execute a marketing strategy to support GCE.

In collaboration with the associate director of graduate and continuing education admissions, manage GCE’s CRM (Element451) and marketing automation strategy to build, enhance, and optimize full-funnel marketing and recruitment.

Work with OCM to facilitate GCE social media support.

Develops GCE website, blog, and social media content and coordinated email outreach campaigns for student recruitment.

Working with OCM and GCE leadership manage awareness and lead generation marketing to achieve awareness, interest, and application goals.

Research and identify target audiences, build personas per program initiative and deliver recruitment campaigns to attract students and corporate partners.

Work with the GCE team to communicate its unique value and competitive differentiation.

Collaborate with GCE admissions and enrollment to integrate marketing efforts.

Track, analyze, and report key marketing and application metrics to optimize activities and demonstrate ROI.

Oversee GCE’s online presence, including website, social media, and email marketing, to maximize reach and engagement.

May perform other duties as assigned.

While no one person may possess all the qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate will have many of the following professional experiences and characteristics:

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or similar concentration from an accredited institution.

Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience.

Experience in managing large-scale projects.

Experience in digital marketing and social media marketing.

Demonstrated experience managing relationships with 3rd party agencies and vendors preferred.

Ability to cultivate and sustain partnerships across a complex organization.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

Experience with marketing technology, such as CRM, CMS and reporting and analytics platforms.

Ability to communicate and collaborate across departments and work with various stakeholders simultaneously.

Must have excellent writing, proofreading, communication and organizational skills; strong writing background and knowledge of AP style preferred.

Must possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors: teamwork/cooperation, initiative, customer service and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products, including InDesign and Photoshop, is preferred but not required.
