Kavaliro has partnered with a client who is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer. As the Mechanical Design Engineer Vacuum Systems you will use your advanced knowledge of vacuum technology and thin film deposition systems to drive innovation and continuous improvement for our customer's PVD/PECVD process equipment.

You will interface and collaborate closely with other team members and departments as the need arises to drive product development and product improvement activities to completion.

Vacuum deposition system experience is required.

This position is required to work on-site.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and execute mechanical designs for complex vacuum deposition systems and subsystems.

Perform analysis as necessary to validate design concepts, prepare and perform design reviews with a focus on Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).

Design machine parts and assemblies using SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM and the VaporTech ERP system.

Prepare assembly and detailed drawings utilizing GD&T.

Collaborate with purchasing to qualify vendors for fabrication and sourcing of parts and components.

Aim to established budgets and timelines relative to project tasks. Understands system cost/quality/time considerations and works to present tradeoffs and support decision-making activities.

Work on shop floor to resolve design conflicts and proactively identify improvements for manufacturing cost and ease of assembly. Requirements:

Experience in designing vacuum deposition systems for functional/performance coatings is required.

Strong understanding of the design and/or integration of deposition sources like Magnetron Sputter Cathodes (DC, pulsed DC, balanced or unbalanced) and cathodic arc deposition.

Experience with the design of multi rotation high temperature turntables for batch deposition systems preferred.

Must have a consistent record of developing designs from concept to product commercialization.

Proficiency in SolidWorks.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is necessary, thermal modeling ability is desirable.

Experience with the SolidWorks Simulation package is preferred.

Experience with pneumatics, drive systems, motion and control systems, heat transfer, fixturing is preferred.

Project management experience is a plus.

Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills. Education and Experience:

Bachelorâ s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
