Instruct middle school students grades 6-8 in computer systems, basic computer programming, digital design, and other relevant areas. Design interdisciplinary learning experiences that fulfill the State of Florida’s standards and are consistent with the school’s mission of providing a college preparatory secondary education focused on science and mathematics. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests, using flexible grouping based on on-going assessment to confer with students and provide differentiated instruction. Integrate technology into the learning environment by using computer labs, laptops, tablets, and interactive whiteboards. Encourage students to use technology as a tool for research, creativity, and problem-solving. Guide students as they explore the school’s problem-centered curriculum and develop an in-dept understanding of important concepts embedded within each activity including computer science, coding, digital literacy, software applications, and internet safety. Expose students to problem solving, communication, and reasoning activities through real-world applications. Use a variety of teaching methodologies such as project-based instruction, computer-enhanced activities, and other equipment and materials to encourage students to develop a positive attitude toward programming and facilitate the learning of each area. Promote students’ academic potential and interest in computing through guided instruction, individual teamwork, data collection, class work, and homework activities. Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students’ progress. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations. Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students’ behavioral and academic problems or to discuss students’ progress, and to determine students’ priorities and needs. Work with other teachers and staff to integrate technology into various subjects and projects. Collaborate on cross-curricular activities to reinforce technology skills across the curriculum. Coach the robotics club to prepare for competitions by facilitating and guiding students to achieve high levels of knowledge and love for the subject.

Requires two years of experience as a Computer Teacher at middle or high school level. Stated experience must include coaching teams for robotics competitions. Requires a Florida Educator’s Certificate in Computer Science or an official statement of eligibility is required per state law. Must pass background check.

Requires a Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Education specializing in Computer Science.
