TYPE: Full-time

SALARY: $70,000 per annum

JOB DESCRIPTION:

MPE Custom Switchboards, a leading provider of high-quality, Australian-made switchboards, is seeking a skilled Welder (First Class) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing welding tasks to fabricate and assemble switchboard components, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of quality and safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Weld, cut, and shape switchboard components from various materials, including steel, aluminium, and other metals, using appropriate welding techniques.

Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand project requirements.

Assemble switchboard components accurately and efficiently, ensuring precise alignment and proper fit.

Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet company standards and comply with AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3439, and other relevant regulations.

Perform routine maintenance and inspections on welding equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition.

Collaborate with the engineering team to develop innovative solutions for complex projects.

Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to safety guidelines and company policies.

REQUIREMENTS:

Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.

Minimum AQF Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Welding)

2-3 years of proven experience as a First Class Welder, with a solid understanding of various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and Arc welding.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

Strong attention to detail, with a focus on producing high-quality work.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members.

Familiarity with AS/NZS 61439 standards and other relevant regulations for switchboard assembly is highly desirable.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
