Salary:

Nairad Health, a substance abuse treatment center, is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to join our growing organization. The Medical Assistant is a member of the care coordination and medical team.

Responsibilities include:

Functions as an integral part of the patient care team and promotes patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner.

Obtaining and documenting patient vital signs.

Assist with collection of urine and oral saliva specimens. Perform labeling and logging of specimens in compliance with organizational standards.

Assists in ordering supplies and correctly disposes of all expired items.

Assists clients in accessing community resources such as food, clothing, shelter, and medical insurance.

Participates in community events and activities that promote the awareness of health maintenance and disease prevention.

Helps participants served integrate preventive care recommendations into their daily life activities.

Assists in the planning and creation of strategies, along with a collaborative team, to facilitate referrals and transitions through communication within systems of care on behalf of participants.

Assists participants with obtaining access to medical, mental health, dental care and supportive services.

Assists clients with arranging and keeping medical appointments.

Assists participants with navigating through systems of health care and social services.

Provides basic advocacy, assessment, planning, and casework services; demonstrate an ability to carry out these services to individuals.

Document all aspects of patient care according to organizational policies and procedures.

Functions as an integral part of the patient care team and promotes patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner.

Attends and participates in staff meetings.

Communicates appropriately and effectively with patients and patient care team (in the office and on the phone).

Accepts and performs delegated responsibilities in a positive manner.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Medical Assisting Certification

Considerable skill in communicating verbally, in determining priorities and in organizing work; ability to maintain an organized, work area.

Completion of a certified/registered program for medical assistants that is recognized by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment
