K9s For Warriors is the nation’s largest provider of service dogs to veterans suffering from the invisible wounds of war, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Our unique, in-house program helps change the lives of American heroes by pairing them with a battle buddy, who was likely a rescue dog and then teaching him or her to utilize that dog to mitigate the symptoms of their wounds. In order to continue the great work, we are doing, we are in need of a Warrior Communications Specialist to join our amazing team!
Role and Responsibilities
The Warrior Communications Specialist assists in the development, planning and execution of the communications activities with Warriors. This individual supports external communications through social media, digital print, Warrior relations campaign development and execution, and production of collateral material. The goal and scope of communication efforts and initiatives are to target Warriors that are local, state, national and international. The position places a heavy emphasis on assisting the entire Warrior Operations Team with graphic design and photo editing for social media and print media.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Produce recurring newsletters/e-blasts and content on a quarterly basis.
Write assigned content based on engagement objectives, including but not limited to, biographies, talking points, newsletter stories, social media posts and other program information.
Monitor and maintain social media on K9s For Warriors closed Facebook groups and engage as needed to ensure timely response.
Maintain photo library and edit photos to include logos for external content creation/sharing.
Keep content fresh and trending, staying current with latest social media trends, technology and software applications to maintain high level of content that keeps pace with audience expectations.
Provide engagement and digital communication collateral support for Warrior Operations Department.
Leverage trending video platforms for Warrior awareness and training.
Assist in graphic design, as directed by Supervisor.
Assist with production of documentation such as flyers, brochures, programs and training materials.
GENERAL DEPARTMENT DUTIES
Deliver on various projects assigned as needed by Director of Warrior Operations.
Create video content such as training videos.
Maintain, create and complete communications requests for the Warrior Operations Department.
Review and edit templated letters and emails to ensure proper branding.
Review and update all living documents, as needed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
4-year degree in communications, public relations, marketing and/or journalism
Proven hands-on experience in public relations, marketing & social media development
Proficiency with Google Analytics and web analytical tools
Competent in Adobe Suite, Microsoft products and project management
Experience in exercising judgment to manage performance and assignment prioritization
Ability to perform a variety of tasks with a personal sense of initiative
Strong writing, editing and planning skills
Ability to operate as an effective tactical and strategic thinker
