Job Title:Teaching Assistant, ENVM601 Env Chem
Job Summary:The Environmental Management Department is looking for one continuing MSEM student to be the Teaching Assistant (TA) for the Environmental Chemistry (ENVM 601) course during the Fall 2024 semester.
ENVM 601 is taken by first year MSEM students and covers the chemistry of aquatic, soil, and atmospheric systems. The focus is on applying fundamental chemical concepts to environmental topics, including air pollution, water quality, and the distribution of chemical species. Quantitative work and management implications are included.
The TA in this position will provide chemistry tutoring in Session A, then serve as TA for Environmental Chemistry course in Session B.
Full Job Description:
**This role is open to continuing students in the MSEM program only.**
Tutor Responsibilities:
Tutoring students on problem sets and concepts
Provide students exercises to reinforce learning
Assist with homework assignments or special projects
Provide extra support upon request
TA Responsibilities:
Reviewing student assignments (The instructor will provide rubrics and guidance for grading)
Helping students with problem sets, assignments, and/or questions
Prompt return of graded assignments (no more than one-week turnaround)
Summarizing student performance for instructor (common mistakes, etc.)
Holding office hours and/or being available at other times to help students
Schedule
It is anticipated that the TA will work an average of 5 hours per week for 8 weeks per semester, for a total of 40 hours per semester, during Fall 2024.
Compensation
Graduate Students: $19.67/hr
