Terry Staffing is partnering with a construction and maintenance company, specializing in the building of turn-key, power generation facilities, to find an excellent Quality Manager for a project in Boonville, NY.
Position Responsibilities:
The Site Quality Manager has the authority and responsibility for ensuring compliance with both the requirements of the Construction Quality Management Program and the contractually defined quality requirements. The Site Quality Manager is independent of construction personnel. The Site Quality Manager directly reports to the Director QA/QC and is allocated to the Project Manager during his/her stay on a project. He/she advises and supports the Project Manager and the project organization in the implementation of the Construction Quality Management Program.
Job Description Summary:
Support Site Management in terms of quality-relevant matters regarding coordination and surveillance of work
Carry out pre-inspection meetings and participate in kick-off meetings and pre-activity meeting with contractors, clients and third-party inspectors on site
Review and approve the sub-contractor's quality documents (e.g. quality plans, ITPs, procedures, etc.) prior to start of construction activities
Review sub-contractor's personnel qualification (e.g. non-destructive testing, concrete testing, surveying) prior to construction activities
Verify the compliance with the project- and code-specific quality requirements for all disciplines, internally as well as subcontracted • Act as the contact person for clients and sub-contractors in quality matters
Participate in regular meetings with the project team, contractors and clients
Coordinate with Quality personnel of the client and subcontractor, and third-party inspection and testing
Monitor, witness, and track the execution of inspections and testing according to project-specific requirements defined in quality plans and participate in inspections and testing with subcontractors, and clients
Verify and/or review completed quality documents by the craft for compliance to requirements
Verify calibration of measuring and testing equipment
Perform site audits towards subcontractors to verify compliance to project requirements
Prepare project-specific quality plans, procedures and inspection forms in individual cases
Prepare and issue the project quality status reports as required
Verify availability and correctness of material test report for material and equipment as specified by contract
Monitor receiving of incoming materials and equipment for noncompliance and/or damage
Manage, track and store quality related documents as required for final documentation turnover
Perform source inspection(s) to verify competency of supplier (e.g. concrete batch plants, concrete testing, etc.)
Responsible for managing the Project Quality Team including training, mentoring, and performance assessment
Ensure a Nonconformance Management Program is implemented and analyzed for continuous improvement opportunities
Communicate with Operations for quality related matters
Ensure the Quality Management Program training is conducted for applicable new hires
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management preferred
10+ years of experience in the electrical high voltage transmission industry
5+ years of experience in construction quality management
Experience in developing Quality Plans including Inspection and Test Plans based on company and contractual requirements
Experience managing a project team to monitor and assure compliance of contractual requirements
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
High attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and manage time effectively in order to meet deadlines
Self-starter and able to work in a team atmosphere
Provide over-site, mentoring, training of Quality Team Members
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
Work Location(s):
The work will be conducted on site in Boonville, NY
Ability to work within a physically demanding work environment including extended periods of standing and walking, frequent sitting, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, stopping and climbing
Work is primary preformed both indoor and outdoor environments in all/extreme weather conditions
Ability to lift-up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
