The Fatigue Scientist will serve as an integral part of Fort Hill Group’s Air Traffic Control Human Factors Team. The Fatigue scientist will support FAA projects related to analyzing potential impacts of fatigue on air traffic controllers and technicians, modeling work schedules, and providing guidance and training materials related to fatigue management. The candidate will work closely with other project team managers to support the needs of the client. The candidate will be expected to clearly present key research findings to stakeholders and contribute to the development of research reports. This position may be filled as a full-time or part-time position.

Potential Work Activities

Conducting large-scale assessments, and/or event driven investigations of specific work schedules utilizing bio-mathematical fatigue analysis software to identify any potential impacts of schedule- related fatigue risks

Collecting and analyzing actigraphy data to identify the potential impacts of fatigue on operational personnel

Providing technical review and input to fatigue research being completed by other research organizations

Providing briefing materials and findings resulting from fatigue analysis to project stakeholders

Candidate Requirements

US citizenship or permanent residence

Advanced degree in Human Factors, Engineering, Psychology, or related discipline.

6+ Years of relevant work experience

Experience collecting and analyzing physiological data in support of fatigue or human factors analyses

Experience collecting fatigue or human performance data during live or simulated operational conditions

Excellent oral and written communication skills for presenting technical research results

Candidate must be a U.S. citizen able to successfully complete a government security investigation

Desired Attributes

Experience utilizing FAID Quantum, or other bio-mathematical software to conduct fatigue analyses

Expertise applying human factors methods within the aviation and/or air traffic control domain

Experience applying advanced statistical methods to large human performance data sets

History of working directly with the FAA or aviation industry.
