Friendship Hospital For Animals is seeking a Veterinary Sterile Processing Technician to join our team.

We are willing to train the right candidate!

You may need to start at an assistant level and follow a training program.

The sterile processing technician helps maintain an efficient workflow in our busy surgical service.

A successful candidate for this position should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, detail oriented, able to multitask, and able to take initiative.

Technicians should be able to work Tue-Fri closing shift -8pm Assistants may be asked to work a day shift during the week.

What you will be doing (THE MISSION):

Assisting the lead in creating protocols and training assistants

Assist with setting up and breaking down of operating rooms

Decontaminate, clean, inspect, package and sterilize a wide variety of instruments and items according to proper procedure

Set-up and breakdown of equipment used in the operating room

Basic veterinary assisting including restraint and animal husbandry

Working in and around a sterile field; assist with handing instruments to surgeon during procedures

Multitasking

Other Duties as assigned

What you have as a Technician:

1-2 years experience in Sterile Processing

Certification (CRCST) from the HSPA or equivalent organization

Attention to detail/able to produce high quality work

Able to memorize and master large amounts of detailed information (instruments, protocols)

Can be a team player (can work together to complete tasks) and can self-motivate when working alone

Can balance quality with efficiency (without sacrificing personal well-being)

Can understand the importance & effective practice of sterility, good hygiene and proper workflows

Excellent communication skills-- both verbal and written

Ability to effectively solve problems and make decisions as needed.

Ability to multi-task in a stressful environment

Ability to stand for long periods of time

Ability to work around a variety of animals

Ability to lift up to 50-75lbs
