Position Description

Title: Warehouse Associate – Picking

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Picking Supervisor

Primary Purpose: The warehouse associate is responsible performing picking procedures for each order in compliance with work instructions and GMPs.

Essential Functions:

Obtains an empty U-Boat and takes a Picking task in assigned zone.

Reviews the order. Determines the size of the order and the quantity of containers needed. (Determines container size – case, box or carton)

Scans the Task Number with the RF Unit. The RF Unit will display the location and quantity of each product needed for the order.

Picks the item, scans the item with the RF Unit and packs it in the appropriate box.

Ensure when stacking merchandise that the heaviest/largest items are on the bottom and lighter/smaller items on top.

Denotes and reports out of stock items.

Reports items which are not in their proper location to the supervisor.

Handles all products carefully and reports damaged products to the supervisor immediately.

Separates products on the u-boat by customer/order.

Reports spills and breakages immediately to supervision.

Maintains orderly and neat warehouse placing garbage and label backs in appropriate receptacles.

Count, writes and circle the number of pieces in the box on the center of the label.

Places the label on the packed box, making sure that all the labels are facing the same direction and are aligned correctly.

Takes U-Boat with the picked order to area for final disposition.

This position is responsible for food safety and has the authority to stop production to communicate potential food safety issues and ensure that they are investigated appropriately.

Comply with all company safety programs, rules, regulations, procedures, and instructions that are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.

Refrain from any unsafe act that might endanger him/herself or fellow workers.

Use all safety devices and personal protective equipment provided for his/her protection.

Report all hazards, incidents, and near-miss occurrences to their immediate supervisor or Safety Director, regardless of whether or not injury or property damaged was involved.

17. May perform other duties or work on other projects as required by the department.

Minimum Requirements:

Some automated warehouse experience preferred.

Good Communication skills (bi-lingual Spanish strongly preferred)

Literacy and ability to follow procedures and complete documentation.

Discipline

Initiative

Knowledge of Company products and codes

Knowledge of cGMP’s

Familiarity with HACCP

Physical Requirements :

Must be able to speak audibly and intelligibly.

Must be able to hear with or without accommodation.

Must be able to see to follow work instructions, see RF Unit and examine product

Must be able to stand for a full shift and walk throughout the warehouse

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis throughout the shift

Must be able to stretch and bend regularly throughout the shift.

Must be able to pull and push u-boat with product on it throughout the warehouse.
