Full Time Unarmed Security Officer

POSITION SUMMARY: Staff unarmed security posts and provide security for the personnel and property of, and visitors to, assigned US Government Property.

This location is at the National Gallery of Art.

RESPONSIBILITIES: * Protect personnel and property in a professional manner * Meet and deal tactfully and politely with general public and visitors * Effectively and efficiently screen and process visitors * Identify, report, delay or detain persons who violate rules and regulations * Complete all reports and paperwork as required * Provide first aid, CPR and assist during emergencies as necessary * Comply with NGA General Orders and Security Post Orders documents; * Be fully familiar with building layout, floor plans, manual fire alarm locations, fire extinguisher locations, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) locations, emergency routes, and evacuation assembly points; * Report to assigned post at the designated time; * Remain on post until properly relived and pass all information relevant to the post to the relieving Security Officer; * Must be able to wear protective body armor as a part of the duty uniform * Ensure safety requirements compliance and safe work practices * Perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: * Must be at least 21 years of age * US Citizen with a valid social security card * Must possess a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent * Must possess one of the following experience or education criteria below: * Minimum of two (2) years unarmed security experience within the past five years * Three (3) years of service in the Military or National Guard * Successfully completed a state certified law enforcement education and training program or police officer's standard training course * Must meet all medical and physical standards as outlined in the contract * Meet background screening and U.S.

* Shift work required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to remain standing on post up to four (4) consecutive hours without eating, drinking, or relieving bladder/bowels.
