Coating Machine Operator

Job Description

Position Summary

Coats and/or laminates material that meets coating run order requirements. Performs daily assignments and tasks in the Coating department.

Key Responsibilities

Reads and understands work orders to determine custom product requirements.

Sets up and prepares material for processing.

Place rolls of material onto feed spindle of machine.

Threads end through feed and guides material into dipping vat or onto transfer roll and through drying oven and attaches it to rewind spindle.

Fills vat with adhesive solution.

Monitors and adjusts coating line during operation.

Splices ends of material to form continuous roll.

Reports any non-conformities as material is processed.

Demonstrates to and observes new employees on daily jobs, paperwork, and computer work. Provides training as needed to other employees.

Performs basic machine maintenance and PM's.

Cleans work areas.

Also refer to "Specific Hazardous Waste Responsibilities" description maintained by Quality Engineer and/or lab personnel.

Physical Requirements: Frequent exposure to a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels and odors. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds alone. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodation will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Daily contact with supervisor with relation to work assignments and direction.

Frequent contact with machine operators and production supervisors on changeover and downtime.

Selection Criteria:

Education:

High School Diploma

Experience:

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.

Certification to operate sit-down forklift may be required.

Accurate data entry skills.

Basic mechanical aptitude.

Ability to work well under pressure.

Good organizational skills.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
