Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Competence
Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
Performs procedure in General Radiology, Ultrasound and CT Scan section:
a. Prepares patient for the procedure.
b. Ascertains completion of Informed Consent for invasive procedure.
c. For procedures requiring contrast or any medication, performs assessment for any allergy and contraindication.
Reviews and evaluates developed x-rays, recording, or computer generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
Prioritizes urgent and/or critical tests and relays critical test results to the Physician within 15minutes.
Educational requirements
Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology
Licensed to practice by the Professional Regulation Commission
Work Experience
At least 6 months to 1 yr experience
Skills and Training
Basic Life Support Training, within 6 months upon hiring
With the ability to effectively communicate to patients and customers both in oral and written medium.
Exhibits good moral character, pleasing personality, and professionalism at all times.
Working Conditions
Rotating shifts as well as holiday, work during inclement weather, and on call will be required. This job role requires regular walking to various locations around the hospital, may spend many hours standing, and routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Work may require lifting of patients and portable equipment.
