The Main Responsibilities
Interpret and report on network anomalies to the team, management and customer
Escalate for resolution of network anomalies
Available to submit daily network status report prior to 0700 each business day
Submit after action reports to management and customer as required
Provide pro-active network monitoring of potential jeopardy situations to the network or circuits using Telenium and other Network Management Systems
Develop and maintain availability metrics for SONET, Carrier Ethernet and Wavelength services
Present network and circuit updates at regular meetings
Provide updates and feedback to management and the customer
Assist with new proposals
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures
Mentor team members on Operations and Maintenance (O&M) processes and procedures
Understands and adheres to company policies and practices
What We Look For in a Candidate
Demonstrated experience with SONET based, metro fiber networks, next-generation DWDM systems and IP based systems
Previous experience with broadband circuit maintenance/restoration, provisioning databases and circuit activations preferred
Ability to relate technical issues to management and Government personnel
Prior experience with Infinera,, Ciena, suite of optical and Layer 2 network equipment and network management systems
Previous experience with Government networks and customers preferred
Previous experience with TIRKS preferred
Previous experience with Lumen and commercial applications a plus
Previous experience with Telenium and Network Management Systems for identifying and monitoring network anomalies preferred
Ability to interface in a professional manner with management and customer is essential
Associate degree in Engineering, Electronics, Software, or Networks preferred; or a related technical or vocational education or equivalent experience
Seven or more years applicable work experience
Current SSBI preferred
US Citizenship required
Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$67,340 - $89,780 in these states: WV
$74070 - $98760 in these states: MD VA WA
As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
