Senior Manager, Employee Relations - Automotive Industry
As the Senior Manager of Employee Relations in the automotive industry, you will be pivotal in fostering a positive work environment and maintaining productive employee relationships. Your role involves overseeing employee relations programs, addressing employee concerns, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement employee relations strategies that align with organizational goals and enhance employee engagement.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations as needed.
- Provide guidance and recommendations for problem resolution to management and staff.
- Stay informed about employment law, industry trends, and best practices to ensure company compliance.
- Develop training programs for managers and employees to enhance knowledge of employment-related matters, such as policies, procedures, and the legal employment landscape.
- Create and maintain reports on trends in employee relations to help guide strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with HR leadership to develop initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Serve as a liaison between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts, and helping resolve work-related problems.
- Advise and coach managers on establishing a constructive dialogue with employees and on how to appropriately manage and resolve performance issues.
- Support HR and business projects as needed, including organizational development and change management initiatives.
Qualifications & Preferences:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in employee relations or a closely related HR function, specifically within the automotive or manufacturing sectors.
Seven (7)+ years of professional experience related to collective bargaining negotiations, labor relations administration, and/or employment-related grievances, complaints and/or arbitrations. - In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and investigatory skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of managing sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Proficient with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office.
