JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Administer Evonik’s US benefits, including health and welfare plans, annual enrollment processes and total rewards statements, 401(k) DC plans, Pension DB plans, and non-qualified retirement plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Administer Evonik’s US benefits, including health and welfare plans, annual enrollment processes and total rewards statements, 401(k) DC plans, Pension DB plans, non-qualified retirement plans, along with other benefits programs such as EAP, back-up/eldercare, college coach, caregiving family support services, and voluntary benefits. Work as part of a global total rewards benefits team with a focus on the Americas.

Embrace and leverage new and emerging technologies, systems, and data to improve efficiency and effectiveness of benefits and service delivery. Assist with HRIS benefits data interfaces and ensure data and eligibility accuracy.

Support department’s administration, service delivery, benefits operations and transactional requirements, along with clearly presenting and communicating benefits plan information.

Work with benefits vendors, legal counsel, advisors and auditors in coordinating requests.

Evaluate, benchmark data and analyze benefit plans to ensure competitive standing. Support on-going evaluations of new benefits programs to create additional total rewards programs that support HR in attracting and retaining employees within Evonik’s multi-generational workforce.

Provide support in HR benefits/total rewards requirements with acquisitions and divestitures.

Assists with vendor management of health and welfare and retirement plans and record keepers, investment advisor, actuaries, ERISA attorneys, ERISA auditors, and consultants. Support administration and service delivery of health and welfare and retirement benefits for 4,700 US active employees, and over 3,450 retirees. Support and coordinate with Evonik’s HR service delivery regarding benefits related administration issues.

Support Evonik’s governance committees, the Administrative Committee, along with the Investment Committee. Organizes agenda, ensures minutes are accurately reported, and legally required signatures and processes are satisfied.

Assist with the legal regulatory compliance/reporting requirements such as those required by ERISA, IRS, ACA, and DOL, Discrimination Testing, Annual Funding Notices, Summary Annual Reports, etc.

Support the annual 5500 government filings for all DB/DC retirement plans along with active health and welfare plans. Facilitate on-going legal risk management and audits to mitigate the potential legal exposures and significant financial penalties to the plans.

Support the annual ERISA audits and coordinates data management requests to assist Director with legally required fillings and reporting requirements.

Project lead key benefits initiatives, collaborate with HRIT, data management, HR benefits administration and payroll along with various providers to facilitate accurate set up, programming, and structural requirements.

Assist with mergers, acquisitions and divestiture transactions.

Oversee contracts/service agreements, billing/invoices, plan documents, SPD’s, along with plan amendments.

Works with Labor Relations COE to assist with collective bargaining strategies/approaches, coordinate data requests and ensure collective bargaining agreements are updated and reflective of new benefits/strategies.

Assist with annual internal/external audits, data, reconciliation, and processes.

Oversee the technical and operational requirements to optimally deliver benefits to Evonik active employees and retirees. Ensure HRIS interfaces/data and processes are working properly between external vendors and HRIS/outsourced vendors.

Assist with the vendor performance through on-going day to day requirements along with annual performance reviews.

Communicate with and educate employees, site HR and myHR on key requirements of benefits program and serve as internal contact. • Serve as point of contact for benefits plan service delivery and/or administrative requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

Position at minimum should require a bachelor’s degree and/or CEBS certification. Should have relevant benefits experience, health and welfare, DB pension and DC benefits administration, experience of at least 5-7 years working with complex active and legacy retirement pension and medical benefit plan designs for a similar or larger sized US based manufacturing with unions.

Experience should also include a working knowledge of government laws, filings, and regulations relating to retirement and health and welfare benefit plans, such as those required under ERISA, ACA, the DOL and IRS.

This position requires the individual to have prior successful experience and accountability of independently working on complex/legacy qualified and non-qualified retirement and health and welfare benefits plans, operations and service delivery.

The candidate should have experience working with in-house counsel, Finance, Comptroller, CFO, Labor Relations, along with external legal counsel to ensure regulatory compliance of all benefit and HR programs, plans, policies and procedures.

Candidate should also have detailed experience administering complex benefits provisions including severance, qualified/non-qualified, along with localization agreements.

Current knowledge and work experience with a plan sponsor administering national US active employee and retiree health and welfare plans, 401(k) retirement benefits plans. Would prefer person to also be familiar with administration of DB pension plans.

Knowledgeable about data/file feeds that get transmitted to data record-keeper and retirement benefits plan vendor.

Ideal candidate will be familiar with ADP EV-6 data management payroll/HRIS System and Workday to research and assist with day-to-day administrative work requirements and resolving employee issues.

Familiarity with ERISA, IRS regulations, along with legal and compliance requirements for all retirement benefits plans.

Experience working with retirement benefits vendors, such as Prudential (Empower), Fidelity, etc. processing invoices for approval, adobe sign, etc.

Experience working with retirement benefits actuarial firms, ERISA counsel and investment advisors.

Experience working with internal employees, HR and Finance colleagues, problem solving and coordinating governance meetings.
