Stanislaus County - Department of Parks and Recreation is looking for an Accounting Intern who will assist to examine, analyze, and interpret accounting records to prepare financial statements, assist in providing advice and evaluate statements prepared by others. Install or advise on systems of recording costs or other financial and budgetary data.

Administrative

Open, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence, including email correspondence.

Provide Customer Service by answering phone calls, answering emails, and assisting in-office customers.

Use Parks’ Reservation System to assist customers with cancellations or issues with reservations.

Communicate with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate, and share information.

Update and Maintain Tracking Spreadsheets regarding Refund Requests, Picnic Shelter Rentals, and other Exclusive Use Permits.Accounting

Track Entrance Station Revenue (ESR) by verifying and entering the Revenue data into spreadsheets.

Scan and save various documents in the Parks computer drive.

Assist with prepping Invoices (verifying tax rates, finding PO numbers, verifying Accounts for Invoices, scanning Invoices daily).

Enter and Process Invoices.

Assist with sorting and tracking Invoices related to Grants.

Assist with Credit Card transaction/statement auditing (verifying tax rate, authorizations).

Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Knowledge of basic mathematical principles.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, as accounting interns will need to interact with team members, clients, or vendors.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively to meet deadlines.

Some knowledge of principles and processes for providing Customer Service by phone and email.

Some knowledge of Administrative and Office procedures and systems such as managing files and records, workplace terminology, and word processing.

Some basic knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
