AREA DIRECTOR – GREATER TORONTO AREA [WEST]

Position Scope:

The Area Director is a charismatic people-oriented leader who reports directly to the Regional Vice President of Canada and oversees a designated portfolio of Planet Fitness clubs across the Greater Toronto Area - West.

This individual will be charged with driving a high-performing culture by closely managing, coaching and motivating Club Managers to achieve club targets and objectives, resulting in consistently delivering an exceptional employee and member experience.

Responsibilities:

Conduct routine club visits to support the club team by identifying business opportunities, removing barriers and developing strategies for success. Club visits include:

Engage with team members at all levels to build relationships.

Ensure training on all Planet Fitness and Taymax policies, procedures and standards has been completed within a timely manner for all team members.

Conduct club walkthroughs to identify critical issues that impact member experience, while working alongside the Club Manager and the appropriate corporate team to address.

Review club P&L statements with define metrics and standards.

Ensure KPI’s are used effectively, and clubs are meeting company objective and budgetary goals.

Implement action plans to address all outstanding issues and areas of opportunity.

Evaluate cleanliness, safety and member satisfaction along with the overall club environment to ensure each club is consistently reflective of the PF brand, culture, and company values.

Analyze and approve club schedules to ensure assigned payroll tier targets are adhered to and business needs are being met.

Interact with members and employees while exemplifying professionalism, our Core Values and Company Mission Statement.

Ensure the club environment promotes compliance with company policies and procedures for all team members and members.

Contribute to talent acquisition assisting the Club Managers to recruit, develop and retain talent at all levels within the region.

Partnership with cross-functional business partners to drive club performance.

Track and analyze sales, marketing, and operational analytics, and develop action plans to address outliers and leverage top performers.

Oversee club and equipment maintenance procedures, and ensure that all repairs are completed in a prompt and timely manner.

Handle all presale duties related to new club openings within region (i.e. hiring, training, operational setup).

Ensure clubs meet and/or exceed monthly member retention goals.

Other duties as assigned based on the club or business needs.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

Strong leadership, team building and coaching skills.

Strong business acumen, organization, problem solving and planning skills.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and act decisively.

Ability to think creatively and strategically as well as set and lead organizational priorities.

Possess a results-driven attitude with the ability to work independently, make quick decisions and prioritize appropriately.

Proven track record of leading a team and maintaining a high performing, service-driven and dynamic work environment.

Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize as needed.

Discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience with Workday (cloud-based HRIS system) is an asset.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum of five years of relevant experience, overseeing multiple locations.

Three+ years of experience in a management role.

Multi-province experience is an asset.

Posses a valid driver’s licence and acceptable driving records.

Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport.
