We are currently looking for a Fire Alarm and Security Technician who will be responsible for troubleshooting low voltage Fire Alarm and Security Systems and resolving any problems. This position requires a thorough understanding of fire alarm and security products, supporting software, and electrical systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Installation, service, and inspections of Fire Alarm and associated systems
Completion of all necessary paperwork associated with service and inspections
Communicate with customer before and after any call to explain work performed
Ensure timely job completion
Daily communications with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator on inspection or project delays, requirements and general status of job
Take turns in on-call rotation
May mentor Fire and/or Security technicians on tools and technology
Required Qualifications
Familiarity with NFPA 72, Florida Fire Prevention Code, and local building codes
Minimum of 3 years of field experience in inspection, repair, and installation of fire alarm and security system systems
Extensive knowledge of low voltage systems
Experience working with Fire-Lite and Notifier brands of equipment
Ability to read blueprints
Proficient in the use of computers and smart phones, specifically Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Apple iOS, and Google Android
High level of troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communications skills required
Organized, motivated, and able to work with minimum supervision
Valid driver’s license with good driving record
Must a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Physical Requirements
A Fire Alarm Tech is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers.
Ability to complete ladder work, operate scissor and boom lifts, move boxes, and lift, up to 50lbs
Reaching, grasping and carrying activities also required
Moderate noise level in the work environment
Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Compensation: $25 - $35/hour depending on experience
