We are currently searching for a Senior Traffic Engineer/Project Manager to support our growing Traffic Engineering Department in the Mid-Atlantic region located in Springfield, VA or Virginia Beach, VA. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000, based on experience.

The successful candidate will work on challenging transportation design projects providing technical expertise and ensuring compliance with locality and state DOT standards. The candidate will serve as Senior Engineer/Project Manager in Traffic Engineering department and collaborate with multidisciplinary team and lead various traffic design tasks on roadway, bridge and interchange improvements, intersection modifications, complete streets, and multimodal projects. What you’ll be doing:

Serve as technical lead for traffic engineering design tasks involving various intersections safety and multimodal improvements as well as large interchange improvement design

Prepare traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations

Prepare temporary traffic control plans and traffic management plan (TMP) as part of maintenance of traffic (MOT) activities

Prepare permanent signing and pavement marking plans

Prepare Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and streetlight design plans

Prepare quantities and develop PS&E packages supporting highway design projects

Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings, corridor studies, warrant analysis, road safety audits, and engineering reports

Collaborate with diverse team of professionals including roadway, bridge and traffic engineers, transportation planners, and landscape architects

Attend project meetings with clients

Lead and manage task orders

Assist in developing scope and fee proposals, presentations, and reports

Provide mentorship to junior engineers

What you need to have:

BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent

5 - 15 years of traffic engineering experience

PE is required

Must be proficient in MicroStation or AutoCAD

Familiarity with VDOT and/or DDOT traffic design standards, MUTCD and AASHTO

Familiarity with traffic programs including Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS

Self-starter and capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
