Job summary:

A CNC Operator, or CNC Machinist, operates computer numerical control (CNC) machine. The CNC produce machined parts according to established parameters and specifications and carves and shapes plastics, metals and woods May perform inspections of industrial machines and work areas. A CNC Operator also calibrates the machines to it proper operating levels. and shapes plastics, metals and woods.

Responsibilities:

Loads parts in machine, cycles machine, detects malfunctions in machine operations such as worn or damaged cutting tools.

Communicate with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains safe, organized, and clean work environment.

Operating industrial machinery, which can include a hydraulic press, grinder, borer, or overhead crane

Fitting the right tools to active machines

Performing proper set-up and calibration procedures for all equipment and accessories

Setting tolerance levels and cutting speeds

Translates the requirements of detailed part drawings into measurements for production

Inspecting workflows to ensure that technical and quality standards are met

Devising a work plan to efficiently carry out daily machining

Set up and operating a CNC machine by maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, maintaining equipment and supplies.

Requirements (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):

High school, college education or training in vocational schools

Two-years’ experience operating CNC equipment.

Conversant with CNC operation and proficient in computer knowledge

Related on-the-job experience, Stone industry preferred

Scope and depth of technical skills/knowledge:

Ability to read and use linear and other measuring devices.

Ability to use basic mathematics.

Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.

Familiar with the safe operation of various tools: including but not limited to drills, screw gun, table saw, band saw and routers.

Physical Demands:

The duties may require that an employee wear a mask, fresh air breathing apparatus or other safety equipment as needed, when working with paint products emitting hazardous vapors.

Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40#’s without assistance.

Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling or bending positions.

Ability to work with arms above head.

Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding.

Ability to stand at a workstation for ten hours a day (minus specified breaks.)

Ability to safely use specified hand, air, power tools, and machinery.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions.

Work Environment:

The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.

The noise level in the work environment is elevated.
