Description:

Title:Chemist Post-Doctoral Researcher

We are seeking a recent Ph.D. graduate to study polymer-based infrared detectors as a two-year post-doctoral researcher. The incumbent will be expected to have expert knowledge of electrically conductive polymers and will perform surface functionalization, thin film deposition, device fabrication, and electrical measurements. Prior cleanroom experience and characterization of visible or infrared detectors are both desirable but not required. Occasional travel may be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Experience with standard, dry inert glovebox practices.

Thin film deposition via spin-coating, drop-casting, oxidative chemical vapor deposition, and/or sputtering. Training for more specialized techniques such as chemical vapor deposition and sputtering can be provided under the guidance of an experienced researcher if necessary.

Post deposition workups, including doping, solvent anneals, and thermal anneals.

Electrical measurements including AC Hall and standard infrared detector characterization (current-voltage, noise spectral density, photocurrent/responsivity, quantum efficiency, absorption spectra).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, or polymer science and engineering within the last year.

Working knowledge and familiarity with electrically conductive polymer theory and practical aspects.

Demonstrated practical knowledge and skills on how to deposit organic thin films and perform basic characterization (thickness, transmission spectra, and electrical resistance).

Although optical detector experience is not required, the successful candidate will have to learn, under the guidance of an experienced researcher, extremely detailed and sensitive electrical measurements.

High attention to detail.

Willingness to work in a Class 100 cleanroom. Device fabrication training will be provided under the guidance of an experienced researcher.

Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, diverse team environment.
