Heavy Equipment Operator

JOB TITLE: Heavy Equipment Operator.

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager.

JOB TYPE: Full-time, Non-Exempt

LOCATION: Buffalo Shredding & Recovery (3175 Lake Shore Road, Blasdell, NY 14219).

HOURS: Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:30pm, or 7:30am - 4:00pm.

COMPENSATION: $17-18/hr, based on experience and skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safe Handling and/or moving material.

Knowledge of the Excavator/Magnet/Grapple/Loader loading requirements; material shipping specifications; weight thresholds.

Effective communication with all site personnel.

Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.

Daily maintenance of equipment.

Identify, report, correct and/or prevent hazards.

Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure work is completed in a safe and responsible manner.

Ability to sit for long periods.

Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis.

Ability to see well and distinguish between back up alarms, voices and typical sounds.

Ensure others around you are aware of your whereabouts.

Work outside in the elements regardless of the season.

Personal protective equipment required: High visibility clothing, hard hat, hearing /eye protection, foot protection (steel toe boots).

Work assigned schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Heavy equipment certification a plus.

2 plus years of heavy equipment operation experience.

Organizational skills, able to multi-task.

Self-motivated, ability to work independently.

Team player, able to get along with a diverse group.
