FLSmidth Inc. is seeking Foundry Technicians for 3rd shift (+8% shift differential) at our Pekin IL location and a 1000$ bonus if you continue to be employed after 6 months. These roles assist in foundry processes including, but not limited to, melting metal, pouring metal into molds, removing castings from molds and dressing castings. A good attitude and ability to work in hot conditions are top priorities for the selected candidate!

Your Responsibilities

Safety advocate

Flask assembly

Sand mixing, pouring and packing

Sand mold preparation – binder application, torch drying, manual clamping and unclamping of cope/drag

Prepares furnace and pours metal – weighs and loads charge material, skims slag, uses crane to carry ladle, pours molten metal from ladle into molds

Clean and finish rough casting – breaks away sand mold from casting, cleans casting and patterns, sand and slag break up and removal, chip and reline ladles

Follow through with applicable paperwork

Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed

Maintain a clean/organized work environment

You may be required to operate the following tools and/or machinery:

Furnaces

Sandblaster

Sand-mixers

Chip dryers

Cut off saws

Grinders

Welders

What You Bring

Safety leadership

Great attitude

Ability to work well in both team and individual environment

Strong problem solving skills

Willingness to learn (Coachable)

High school degree or equivalent

Previous use of power tools and fork truck experience preferred

Solid written and verbal communication skills

Basic computer skills

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks

Must wear respirator and be able to sustain periods of extreme heat
