Description:

Introduction

ASML is a high-tech company headquartered in the Netherlands. We manufacture the complex lithography machines that chipmakers use to produce integrated circuits, or computer chips. What we do is at the heart of all the electronic devices that keep us informed, entertained and connected. Every day, you use electronics that simply wouldn’t exist without our machines. To create the nm-sized structures in these electronics, our lithography machines need a thermal stability of a few mK’s. That is the territory of the Thermal Architecture DUV group: we are involved in modules all over our DUV systems to reach that thermal stability by co-designing, optimizing and testing (sub-) systems.

Are you interested in contributing to the development of our products in order to reach the required thermal stability within the restrictions imposed by system specifications? If yes, this might be the job for you!

Role and Responsibility

You will be part of the Thermal Architecture DUV group which designs and optimizes thermal & flow hardware and calibration & control strategies to further improve DUV system performance on mK and nm level. Next to this and no less important we optimize industrialization aspects (ranging from cost of goods & ownership to cycle time and availability) for those solutions.

In your role you will

·work on analysis and simulations

·on a regular basis, in the cleanrooms, to test the performance of your solutions on complete ASML DUV systems or on experimental setups.

·prepare specifications for the design and implementation of these solutions

·make the link between high level system performance and thermal & flow effects & behavior. As such you will be involved in verifying and improving system performance as well as solving critical (customer) related issues.

Your job combines analytical and experimental (technical) work, but you will also need the personal skills to effectively communicate with the involved stakeholders within the ASML organization to get your solutions implemented. You liaise with colleagues from other competencies (such as electronics, mechatronics and software development), as well as with our suppliers and customers, to come to the best integral solution for the machine functionality that you are working on.

Education and Experience

(Technical) University MSc in Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering or similar.

Must have experience: studies, internships and / or working experience on thermal / flow design or heat and mass transfer.

Solid theoretical and experimental experience in the field of heat and mass flow.

Familiar with product development in a concurrent designing process.

About 4 years

Skills

Working at the cutting edge of tech, you’ll always have new challenges and new problems to solve – and working together is the only way do that. You won’t work in a silo. Instead, you’ll be part of a creative, dynamic work environment where you’ll collaborate with supportive colleagues. There is always space for creative and unique points of view. You’ll have the flexibility and trust to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems

Ability to work in an international multicultural setting, team player.

Strong analytical ability with a pragmatic attitude.

Affinity with MATLAB and simulation packages like COMSOL, Ansys or similar.

Good communicational skills and good knowledge of English.

Able to step back, maintain the overview and assess the impact of your work at system level.

Flexibility: being able to adapt quickly to changes in scope and/or project assignments

Other information

Within ASML, the sector Development & Engineering (D&E) is responsible for the specification and the development of the ASML products. The department Machine Conditioning DUV Scanner & Apps is charged with specifying, analyzing, designing and testing fluid and thermal sub-systems and control solutions. Within the department, the group Thermal Architecture is concerned with the temperature stability control of critical parts, heat removal, global thermal stability and optical sensor conditioning in ASML’s DUV systems. Goal is to provide, in a cost effective way, a thermally stable machine environment which supports the advancing performance and throughput specifications of our tools.

The holder of the position reports to the group team leader Thermal Architecture DUV and is operational within multidisciplinary projects.

Our department is currently located on the High Tech Campus
