The Assistant Kitchen Manager will own the operations of the back of house when the Kitchen Manager is not present. The Assistant Kitchen Manager is vital in implementing processes and procedures to instill efficiency in the back of house and maintaining high team morale. It is expected that this individual develops leadership and interpersonal skills that achieve and maintain safe environments for employees and guests. The ideal manager would be a resourceful, process-oriented problem solver, who can communicate clearly while working in a fast-paced environment with great attention to detail and organizational skills.

What Are We Looking For?

Open and flexible availability, including evenings and weekends

Able to complete physically demanding tasks – standing for long periods, lifting 50 lbs, bending and reaching, etc.

Comfortable with handling a knife

Has Smart Serve Certification or Food Handler Certification (bonus)

Experience working in a kitchen, restaurant, or fast food chain (bonus)

Summary of Responsibilities

Develops a thorough understanding of the happenings within the BOH both financially and physically

Maintains an inspection ready restaurant including kitchen and storage areas at all times

Upholds all of Fresh’s standards and policies including attendance, code of conduct, positive attitude and uniform policy, etc.

Ensure all dishes that are served are visually appealing and cooked to perfection

Uses inventory software to enter in stock levels and invoices, addressing variances as needed

Assists in reconciling invoices to ensure stock are not being overcharged and any backfilled orders are accounted

Works closely with the Kitchen Manager to coordinate repairs and maintenance schedules to keep equipment and kitchen areas in good standing

Runs the line or expedites during peak times and as necessary to ensure 100% guest satisfaction

Coordinates with FOH on guest complaints and escalations regarding allergies and food quality

Ensures the BOH is prepared for upcoming local restaurant marketing initiatives

Implements any new systems and menu items to ensure staff have the training necessary

Checks the logs, systems and procedures within the kitchen such as prep lists and cleaning logs to confirm they are completed to specifications

Improves employee retention by coaching and committing to the growth and development of BOH staff

Emphasizes the safety, sanitation and security awareness when overseeing the training of staff especially when operating equipment

Holds staff accountable to all procedures and standards set out by Fresh

Heads the pre-shift meetings ensuring the team is informed and engaged
