Reporting to the Director Business Development, the Commercial Analyst will be responsible for a diverse range of analytical duties to support the US team, including but not limited to: Budgeting & Planning, P&L reconciliations and analysis, supply optimization, and other analysis to help inform asset-level decisions.

What You'll Be Doing

Maintains and prepares capital budget and forecast data for Gibson’s US Business segment.

Compares actual financial results to forecasts and is able to reconcile and explain variances.

Serves as liaison between accounting and commercial, supporting administration of Right Angle and other accounting software.

Advises logistics of US supply business to optimize netbacks and throughput across US assets.

Provides reporting of P&L, month-to-month, position and exposure for the US Marketing team.

Prepares economic analysis to assess commercial opportunities and M&A opportunities.

Performs supply and demand analysis and identifies trends/patterns in the marketplace (domestic and global) to optimize profitability.

Thinks critically, communicates effectively, and puts alternative solutions forward.

Draws logical conclusions. Sees the implications of events or information.

Develops a network of relevant contacts.

Provides advice and support to colleagues when required.

Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.

May perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

Bachelor's Degree majoring in Business Administration, Accounting, or related Business Degree.

Minimum of 4-7 years of relevant experience.

Past experience in accounting and/or an ETRM system (ideally Right Angle) would be considered an asset.

Demonstrates proficiency in database and spreadsheet software applications.

Ability to communicate and interface well with other internal stakeholders and external customers.

Exhibits an understanding of U.S. crude environment and market drivers.

Ambitious with the ability to operate successfully under pressure and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Ability to conduct accurate analysis and drive high levels of performance.

Exhibits strong analytical, interpersonal communication and organizational skills.

Demonstrates strong attention to detail.

Ability to provide meaningful information to trading so they can make timely decisions.

Must be self-motivated and show initiative.

Demonstrates proficiency in MS Office systems.

Working Conditions

The majority of the work will be performed in the Houston Office environment.
