Salary: Up to £60,000 depending on skills & experience

Referral Scheme Bonus: £1,000

Grade: GG11

What you’ll be doing:

Ensuring that the torpedo system design meets required functionality, corroborated with supporting evidence demonstrating requirement, safety, security and legislative compliance

Co-ordinating the definition and planning of system integration, testing and acceptance

Leading integration of sub-systems in order to realise integration of the complete Sting Ray torpedo weapon system

Collaborating and liaising with Sting Ray sub-system Design Authorities, ensuring sub-systems are available to the system integration programme as required

Supporting the System Design Authority in attaining customer acceptance of the weapon system

Providing authoritative technical insight to the broad Sting-Ray technical team in terms of weapon requirements and integration dependencies

Apply and champion the Systems Engineering principles outlined in ISO 15288 throughout system design, integration and acceptance

Your skills and experiences:

Seeking a seasoned professional with:

Strong background in System Engineering and complex product development

Experience working with stakeholders and proven track record in system integration

Higher education degree (or equivalent) in a STEM field

Expertise in:

Systems Engineering principles and approaches

Relevant standards such as ISO 15288

High-level design methodologies like UAF, NAF, SysML, or UML is beneficial

Experience in:

Leading and working with large-scale complex system designs

Requirements management and traceability using contemporary tools (e.g. IBM DOORS Next)

Underwater weapons systems, which would be advantageous

The Sting Ray team:

In your capacity as the Weapon Design Authority you will be part of the Sting Ray technical leadership team, directly supporting the System Design Authority and engaging with all other sub-system Design Authorities. You will use your in-depth knowledge of Systems Engineering and system integration to tackle challenging engineering problems ensuring the delivery of an integrated and functional lightweight torpedo product ahead of in-water trials.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your skills and invest in your career journey. You will be supported in growing your knowledge across contemporary and emerging fields such as Model Based Engineering (MBE and MBSE), Digital Thread, Digital Twins, Future Air Dominance solutions and Underwater Battlespace solutions.

Working together with both internal and external stakeholders, such as the British and Norwegian Armed Forces, and the UK Ministry of Defence, to guarantee alignment and engagement while promoting product improvements, such as technology upgrades and obsolescence resolution, to extend the life of the weapon system.
