Firewall Administrator Position Overview : The Firewall Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining the organization's firewall infrastructure.

This role involves ensuring the security of the network perimeter, monitoring network traffic, troubleshooting firewall-related issues, and implementing firewall policies in alignment with the organization's security requirements.

Key Responsibilities : 1.

Design, deploy, and configure firewall solutions to protect the organization's network infrastructure.

2.

Develop and maintain firewall policies, rules, and access controls based on security best practices and regulatory requirements.

3.

Monitor network traffic for security breaches, unauthorized access attempts, and other suspicious activities.

4.

Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments of firewall configurations to identify and address security gaps.

5.

Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate firewall solutions with existing network infrastructure and security systems.

6.

Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve firewall-related issues and incidents.

7.

Stay up-to-date with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies to proactively enhance the organization's firewall defenses.

8.

Conduct periodic firewall performance tuning and optimization to ensure optimal network performance and security posture.

9.

Document firewall configurations, policies, procedures, and incident response plans.

10.

Participate in the development and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans as they relate to firewall infrastructure.

Qualifications : 1.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent work experience.

2.

Proven experience working as a firewall administrator or network security engineer.

3.

In-depth knowledge of firewall technologies, including but not limited to, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto Networks, Check Point, Fortinet, and Juniper.

4.

Strong understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, routing, and switching.

5.

Hands-on experience with firewall administration, configuration management, and troubleshooting.

6.

Familiarity with security compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, ISO 27001, etc.

7.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.

8.

Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

9.

Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Firewall Administrator (CFA), or equivalent, are a plus.
