Automotive Technician

Job Description

Our independent car repair facility is in need of an experienced, thorough Mechanic. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing a myriad of mechanical and/or electrical issues on customers' cars, including A/C and ECU problems. We’re looking for a well-trained and highly organized professional who takes pride in their work and can perform various customer service duties as required throughout the day. We pride ourselves on fixing the car right the first time and we do not impose unneeded work or parts on our customer’s cars.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose vehicles based on observational, mechanical and drive testing as well as information provided by the customer and service advisor

• Provide detailed summary of findings to service advisor to prepare estimate

• Repair vehicles based on the diagnosed issues, repair estimate and approval by customer

• Test drive vehicles after repairs are complete to ensure mechanical soundness and to determine whether any other problems exist

• Describe vehicle's condition to service advisor and answer any follow-up questions

• File appropriate documentation and pictures as needed on each repair

• Ability to cash out customers, in rare instances, and close tickets

• Answer phone calls, occasionally, as needed

• Keep workplace clean, perform maintenance on lifts and other equipment as needed

• Attend occasional functions as requested

Qualifications & Skills

• 3+ years of automotive repair experience

• Experience with electronic systems maintenance and repair

• Experience in engine performance

• Knowledge of tools and equipment required to conduct all repairs

• Ability to operate and understand diagnostic tools required

• A/C recovery and recharge certification

• Basic PC knowledge

• Mechanically and analytically minded

• Physical strength and stamina with ability to lift 50lbs, unassisted

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record

• Excellent communication skills

• 3-5 years experience
