Job Description

We are seeking a Mental Health Counselor/Therapist to join our team! You will provide recovery-oriented rehabilitation services in a clinical-based setting. Therapist will utilize the application of psychological and social work theory, knowledge, ethics, and methods to restore or enhance, the social, psychosocial or bio-psychosocial functioning of individuals, couples, families, groups, organizations and communities. Applies specialized clinical knowledge and advanced clinical skills in the areas of prevention, assessment, and treatment of mental, emotional, behavioral, and addictive disorders; engages in multi-disciplinary treatment planning and clinical social work duties and coordinates and implements complex discharge plans through the use of agency services. In-house supervision is provided for provisionally licensed counselors and social workers.

Responsibilities:

Establish open lines of communication for individuals with mental or emotional issues.

Provide prevention-oriented therapy

Implement and review treatment plans

Collaborate with additional treatment providers and placement agencies

Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner

Interviews and assesses clients and assists throughout the treatment/care process.

Identifies and provides helpful resources to clients.

Superior interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively and courteously with clients, families, multi-disciplinary team members, departmental peers and community agency personnel.

Be able to build and maintain a weekly caseload of at least 10 weekly sessions.

Manage client caseload, records, documents and complete clinical paperwork in a timely manner, network within the community, and attend staff meetings and supervisions as necessary.

Regularly schedules sessions and provides invoicing and follow-ups with clients when appropriate

Should have a good knowledge of common disease entities and disorders and medical terminology in order to understand acute and ongoing needs of patients and families.

Advanced knowledge of an acute and chronic care medical setting, medical terminology and the psychosocial and economic effects of illness and/or trauma upon the patient and their support system.

Knowledge of managed care and public programs such as those funded by Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and commercial insurance plans preferred.

Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.

Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Excellent psychotherapeutic skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.

Ability to work a flexible work schedule including occasional weekends.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education Requirements/Qualifications:

Required - Master's degree in social work or counseling from a regionally-accredited university. (May include but not limited to Psychological Counseling, Community Mental Health, etc.)

Work Experience Requirements/Qualifications:

None. Preferred - Two years experience in a clinical mental health/counseling field.

Required Mental Health Certification:

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master Social Work (LMSW)- Must hold an active certification as verified by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners (LABSWE) and able to engage in social work practice.

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLCP) - Must hold an active, non-restricted license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), certification in state of Louisiana by the Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) - Must hold an active, non-restricted license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license in state of Louisiana by the Louisiana Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. Company Description
