Job Description Summary

As a Sanitation II, you will be responsible for a wide variety of jobs including washing, cleaning and helping us maintain high food safety standards. This position requires long periods of standing, and repetitive use of hand/arms to use cleaning tools and supplies. Job tasks may occur in any area of the plant, require good physical stamina, and are labor intensive in an often fast-paced work environment. The sanitation team is essential in assisting the business achieve its production goals.

About The Role

Location: Taber, Alberta

Full-time, Hourly

Schedule: 12-hour shift schedule rotation (7:00-7:00) with an average of 42 hours per week. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Reports to: Production Team Leaders

As a Sanitation II, you’ll…

Always maintain and promote safe work practices

Perform sanitation tasks in assigned work areas using dedicated sanitation cleaning equipment and supplies, as well as a high-pressure water hose

Perform cleaning duties as assigned during plant clean up at the end/start of a production run

Complete all company-provided and required training

Operate & locate important safety equipment, systems, and stations

Understand and use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Develop a thorough understanding of safe usage for all sanitation chemicals used in the plant

Report mechanical or electrical problems promptly to a Production Team Leader and the maintenance department

Complete the company training program outline for this position

Fill out, maintain and sign all applicable documentation and administration forms for verification purposes.

Remove any foreign material found and notify the Production Team Leaders immediately if glass or metal is found.

Effectively communicate with the Sanitation Leader and Production Team Leaders

Collaborate, influence, and partner with team members across the organization to enable individuals and teams to be successful in their roles

Engage in other duties concerned with our sanitation programs & standards

Perform other duties as assigned by your Production Team Leaders.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, you are regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. You are required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. You must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high,

precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to read and comprehend MSDS sheets, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or group situations to other employees of the organization.

Education and/or Experience

High school education or equivalency.

Minimum of one-month related work experience or training

Experience working in a manufacturing environment is an asset

Classifications, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must obtain and maintain WHMIS Certification. This certification and training will be provided by the company.
