Key Responsibilities -

Deliver a Linux based Open source Operating system and BootLoader for a microprocessor in collaboration with vendors, suppliers and stake holders

Understand complex user and vehicle requirements and decompose them into functional, non-functional software requirements for Operating system

Define the requirements for BL and OS that need to be cascaded to the stake holders

The OS and BL must be compliant to the automotive standards and regulations such as UNECE, ISO26262, ASPICE etc…

Work with the HW samples to port, validate and deliver a working product

Identification, configuration and integration of 3rd party drivers, Open source components and licensing requirements as needed

Good working experience with open source community to regularly upgrade to the latest versions

Development of drivers and Configuration of the OS for multiple vehicle variants and models

Work with the CI/CD team in deliver the SW in safe, secure and automated pipeline

Assist and contribute to the generation of targets and verification methods that are driven by Customer, Function Requirements and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.

Work in a multiple disciplinary team, to mentor junior SW engineers and to clearly communicate findings through presentations and reporting

Agree with teams on testing scope and Quality roles and responsibilities

Excellent communication skills and liaise with the wider global teams within JLR

Participate in organizational growth and business strategies

Essential –

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science OR Electronics & Telecommunication OR Electrical Engineering related technical field OR equivalent

A minimum of 4 years of experience in developing Linux or equivalent OpenSource Operating System

Experienced in both configuring and developing the Operating system components

End-end working experience in design and development of some of the platform features such as Memory management, Persistence, Automotive Network comms, LifeCycle Management, Bootloader, Kernel driver, Cyber Security, platform configuration, HW-SW bringup and optimization

Good experience on the drivers and usage of comms protocols and drivers for USB, I2C, SPI, Ethernet etc

Experienced in programming languages such as C/C++

Hands-on with tools such as DOORS, TRM, EA, MSOSA etc

Knowledge of UNECE, ASPICE, FUSA etc

Experienced in CMake, gitlab yml files, CI/CD processes etc…

Ability to work with high performing software teams and work in close partnership with product, architecture and business leadership to achieve optimum degree of integration and operational synergy

Excellent communication skills to work with various component owners and suppliers, challenge the delivery strategy and train the teams towards a fool-proof integrated system

Desirable –

Masters’ degree in Computer science or related engineering field

Working knowledge of a S/W intensive complex JLR program involving multiple suppliers and stakeholders globally

Worked in Agile framework

Experienced in SW integration of various components across multiple layers and platforms

Track record of challenging the status quo and driving continuous improvements to improve S/W quality, and time-to-market

Provided new ideas and submitted research proposals ahead of production standards

High quality awareness, Automotive SPICE, CMM

Be self-directed to create innovative and alternative solutions

Ability to deliver presentations and efficiently communicate to senior executives both internally and externally

Experience of working in ASPICE accredited automotive S/W T1 or Services company
