Overview:

As the Assistant Vice President of Underwriting, Third Party Originations, you will be responsible for managing the credit diligence & quality for third party originated loans purchased. You will manage a pipeline of loan submissions to ensure compliance with investor & internal credit guidelines. This role will be responsible for leading a team of underwriters and credit reviewers to evaluate risks and drive efficiency while maintaining compliance with regulations.

The role can take advantage of Lakeview’s offices in Horsham, PA hybrid or fully-remote anywhere in the United States. The salary range for this role is $100,000 to $150,000 with annual bonus; however, Bayview considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, location and key skills.

Responsibilities:

Analyze the existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement within the Mortgage purchase process.

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, underwriting, risk management, and technology, to understand process inefficiencies and develop solutions to maintain quality.

Conduct and present data analysis to measure process performance, identify root causes of defects, and implement corrective actions to enhance quality and productivity.

Lead and facilitate process improvement projects, including defining project scope, establishing goals, and developing action plans to achieve desired outcomes.

Collaborate with all TPO stakeholders to implement process changes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

Develop and maintain performance metrics to track the effectiveness of process improvements and provide regular updates to management.

Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to mortgage and home equity originations to drive innovation and efficiency.

Oversee the staff that reviews and evaluates information on mortgage loan documents to determine if buyer, property, and loan conditions meet establishment and government/agency standards.

Coordinates diligence activities with external clients to ensure loan requirements are met.

Ensures and upholds fair lending practices while meeting targets for productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Respond to all internal and external QC requests on Correspondent loan issues.

Assist/Communicate best practices to our clients to facilitate clean loan deliveries.

Manage a staff of credit review and vendor relationships.

Responsible for all prepurchase vendor quality errors and corresponding metrics

Ownership of the credit review process in correspondent to include but not limited to: Client defects rates, internal prepurchase checklists, all lender and vendor feedback as it pertains to credit quality in correspondent.

Qualifications:

5+ years mortgage banking experience

Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred

Experience in process improvement, preferably within the mortgage and home equity industry.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Knowledge of mortgage origination processes, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and business needs.

General knowledge of Mortgage Banking origination practices, procedures, regulations, and laws.

Thorough knowledge of all GSE underwriting requirements.

Skill in negotiating issues and resolving problems.

Strong working knowledge of Excel and Power Point for presentation to leadership team.

Skills in effective verbal and written communications, including active listening, and presenting findings and recommendations.

Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, staff and external contacts, and to work effectively in a professional team environment.

Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registration

Six Sigma certification (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt) is a plus.
