How you make a difference:

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) is an entry-level position that learns to provide direct care to a specific resident population under the direction and supervision of licensed nursing staff and their designees. This position provides standard and routine psychiatric and medical nursing assistance services as part of the overall plan of care within the nursing standards and policies and procedures of the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Assists licensed nursing staff with direct services for assigned residents, including health data collection, behavior observation, and daily living activities such as prompting and support.

Helps residents with personal hygiene, nutrition, exercise, and rest.

Records vital signs and documents resident information in medical records. May participate in specific treatment interventions as directed.

Collects and distributes laundry and house/unit supplies and assists with clothing and personal items.

Maintains professional development through education, workshops, and self-study, provides individualized care based on age and developmental needs, and follows post orders as applicable.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

High School Diploma or below required.

Experience

One (1) year of experience working in a medical, psychiatric, nursing, childcare, or customer service setting or working with developmentally disabled persons; or working in a correctional facility; or college or vocational/technical training from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester, 45 quarter or 720 classroom hours for the required 1 year experience or current state of Florida certified nursing assistant license.

Licenses/Certifications
