Purpose of Job: This role performs all aspects of the machining work flow including process design, fixture design & fabrication, CNC programming, machining, inspection, and general shop activities.This job will construct prototype suspension, powertrain, and chassis components for high performance vehicles and help bring development programs to maturity.

As the machining technical expert,you will invent new machining related technology with the team and cultivate those ideas through the patent process.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards: Complete advanced machining projects for the automotive, aerospace, and 3d printing industries.

Use CAM (NX or Mastercam preferred) to produce 3 and 5-axis milling programs for first article parts and prototypes.

Analyze new parts to create the overall machining strategy, select work-holding concepts, and provide DFM recommendations.

Program, verify, and simulate 3-axis, 3+2, and 5-axis milling operations to manufacture first article parts including prototype suspension, powertrain, and chassis components for high-performance vehicle platforms.

Familiarity with Siemens, Haas, and Heidenhain controllers preferred.

Experienced in the programming of vertical, horizontal, trunnion, and gantry style machines.

Design work-holding to support needs ranging from single use R&D to high-rate production.

Use CAD (NX, Fusion360, or Solidworks preferred) to design tools, jigs, and fixtures for machining operations.

Candidate should have prior experience designing tools and a good understanding of tooling best practices.

Use your background in CNC machining to implement novel fabrication techniques and develop new manufacturing technology.

Provide on-floor support for first article components and assist other programmers and machinists in general shop activities.

Participate in the vehicle design process and provide manufacturing guidance for new parts and programs.

Must be able to interpret drawings and understand GD&T.

Contribute to innovative machining and workholding solutions related to additive manufacturing.

Test and validate solutions, refine concepts, and assist in the patent process.

Work Environment: 60% - On the shop floor, machine operation: moving parts, high noise level, machine electrical, hot/cold weather, dust/debris 40% - Office, desk work: None Requirements: Education: High School / GED minimum.

Completion of related technical program, associates, or similar is preferred Experience: 3+ years in setup/operation and 2+ years programming in a machining environment.

Skills: Strong programming and CAM skills (NX or Mastercam preferred) Ability to use CAD for modeling and setup (NX, or Solidworks preferred) Exceptional in the creation of overall machining strategy for first article parts.

Total familiarity with CNC machine operation, processes, best practices, maintenance, etc.

Experience with Haas and Heidenhain controllers preferred Capable of designing fixtures for locating and workholding with industry best-practices.

Comfortable using hand tools, performing light fabrication, and using manual mills/lathes.

Able to use basic metrology tools (calipers, bore gauges, etc.), read drawings, and understand GD&T General understanding of automotive systems preferred Physical Demands: Candidate should be comfortable bending, reaching, lifting 30 lbs, and remaining standing for long periods.
