Lead Software Engineer – Java, BMC Remedy

Individual Markets Business Technology Services at Guardian is seeking a Lead Software Engineer who will be responsible for Agency Finance implementations with our Individual Markets – Finance organization.

You Are:

A Lead Software Engineer: Java, BMC AR Remedy, Rest API, MS SQL Server, My SQL, Hive, PostgreSQL, Quick Sight Reporting with strong data modeling and analytical skills.

You Will:

You will be responsible for serving as an intermediary between Guardian and our Agency Finance Third Party Vendor.

You will work with business owners to analyze, define, and translate business requirements into technical specifications and user stories. Requirements could include but not limited to:

Data Mapping & Modelling

Data Configuration

Data Verification

UI/Business configurations (Screen/Workflows)

Product mapping/configurations

Business & System rules

You will partner with technical teams on projects to design and implement workflows, reports, customizations, extensions, integrations, and data conversions with Finance tools.

Plan installation, configuration, development and testing of our modelling tool built on BMC Remedy, EASA and Excel.

Support external developers in integrating Remedy repository.

Perform administrative tasks and set up (configurations) for users, security, email, licenses, batches, and active directory etc.

Provide in-depth and sophisticated analyses with interpretive thinking to define problems, develop innovative solutions and influence strategic functional decisions.

Provide technical support with incident response, problem resolution, disaster recovery and continuity of operations events.

Work in a SAFe agile team environment with other developers, QA, business users, and other internal teams as well as periodic external partners.

Maintain existing software and software documentation.

You will perform Unit testing as needed.

You will proactively identify opportunities for technology to improve business processes.

You Have:

Bachelor's Degree in - Computer Science, Information technology, Management Information Systems, Finance, or equivalent experience.

7+ years of experience using BMC Remedy ARS/ BMC Helix as a development platform.

Experience in one of the scripting skills like JavaScript, Node.js, SQL, CSS and HTML.

Working knowledge of Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Kubernetes, RedHat, Linux, and Windows Operating Systems.

Experience with modern web application development, including build tools, testing and CI/CD

Experience in working with security frameworks.

Experience with API/integrating data from other systems with BMC Remedy.

Expertise in at least one database – MSSQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL.

Working knowledge of MS project, MS Office Suite, and Visio.

Excellent written and verbal communications, including presentation creation and delivery, organization, analytical, planning skills.

In-depth knowledge of software development lifecycles including Agile development and testing.

Troubleshooting high impact issues with application and processes.

Understands software development lifecycle methodology (SDLC).

Must be able to think strategically and evaluate short-, medium-, and long-term options.

Nice to Have:

Experience in Excel to Web App (EASA) conversion and Excel Macros/VBA is a plus.

Experience in any reporting tool is an added advantage.

Experience with SAFe Agile, Scrum, Kanban methodology.

Location & Travel:

2 Days a week at a Guardian office in Holmdel - NJ or Bethlehem - PA.

Salary Range$95,060.00 - $156,170.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
