Summary: VES is looking for a Global Reporting and Data Quality Lead to join our team in our Kingwood location. This person will work to assist with all aspects of the financial close while reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager and supporting the VP Controller and interacting with Varel’s leadership teams globally to further develop and support our transformation towards new Global Standards for financial planning and reporting.

The Global Reporting and Data Quality Lead will support the Corporate Accounting Manager in financial close and systems matters and work closely with the regional accounting teams to ensure accurate, timely, and simple reporting of the corporate business. The Global Reporting and Data Quality Lead will also be expected to support and participate in senior management discussions, presentations, and interact with Varel’s principals regarding financial reporting and systems matters.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional and a hands-on leader that can take on immediate responsibilities in overseeing the development of the financial reporting system and ensuring the quality and integrity of data from the ERP system (SAP) while aligning closely with the CFO Organization’s transformational efforts to develop and drive global standardization and be a key member of the transformational program launched in early 2024, Financial Modernization Program. The candidate will be accountable for the functional capabilities for enhanced performance reporting, corporate development support, and systems refinement of the entire corporate organization.

The candidate will also be directly involved in the ongoing evaluation of processes, procedures, and technology necessary to build a sophisticated and scalable CFO organization that efficiently and effectively supports VES’s Core operations, continued growth and needs of internal and external stakeholders. This role is positioned well for further professional growth and leadership development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Understanding company’s strategic direction and business model to be able to evaluate, recommend and convert raw data into actionable insight in support of organization’s strategy. This will be achieved through:

Interaction with leadership team to understand key metrics and the major factors underlying the company’s strategy and operational plan to refine systems and reporting tools.

Maintaining a thorough understanding of Varel’s tactical plan (short-term) and Varel’s strategic plan (long-term) to assist the organization with meeting these plan objectives by keeping abreast of the latest technology, tools, and processes to support of identify trends and solutions to solve problems to achieving specific goals embedded within each plan.

Developing and using systems, processes, and repository of Corporate data to provide for:

Support to Corporate Accounting Manager and Corporate leadership needs while aligning corporate reporting, systems, and processes with the global standards,

Liaison between the SAP team and the Financial teams

Lead current implementation from BPC (Business Planning & Consolidation) to Planful Reporting Software, in addition to leading other system integrations or maintenance as applicable.

Providing Quality, Timely, Accurate Data to support timely business decisions through:

Data consolidation and variance analysis.

Data process and systems improvements for usage for budgeting and forecasting across all aspects of business (experience with SAP, Planful, BPC is a plus).

Internal controls for accurate and standard data and reporting

Research, analyze and support financial and business needs related to audit requests, timely monthly closure.

Ensure all monthly, quarterly, and annual corporate reporting requirements are fulfilled

Effective leadership, influence, written and verbal communication, and teamwork to drive key business needs including:

Ability to drive and influence change and financial transformation to support the CFO in Financial Modernization Program, including being a core-team member of key projects,

Build and maintain a direct link between global team locally in Corporate and globally in CFO Organization to facilitate accurate and timely reporting,

Driving alignment and adoption of global standard policies, processes, and systems that impact the quality, simplicity, and timing of company’s financial and operational reporting,

Support company spokespersons to the financial community and to collaborate with a wide range of internal parties, including senior leadership, accounting, and manufacturing functions.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related academic field. (Knowledge of corporate accounting, manufacturing, MBA and IFRS rules is a plus).

Working knowledge of SAP, BPC, and databases preferred.

FX Revaluations and Internal business experience a plus.

IFRS16 ROU Lease Liabilities (Lease Query, Visual Lease experience a plus.)

Strong understanding of Financial Systems in addition to System Implementation Experience

Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in financial and/or operational modeling (i.e., Supply Chain, Commercial, Operations, etc.).

Preferably in manufacturing or oil field sector.
