Drilling Technician (Aviation Structures)
Location: Merritt Island, FL
Salary: $46.20/hr

Employment Type: 6 month assignment w/ potential for extension or conversion
Shift: Monday to Thursday, 4pm-2:30am
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
5+ years of experience with aerospace structures required.
Strong experience with drilling close tolerances required.
Use of hand drills, power feed drills (PFD), Jiffy/E-Tech tools, Winslow guns,
Knowledge of proper drill speeds and feeds for materials being worked
Use of drill jigs, bomb sites, tools needed for hand placement of holes
Understand hole angularity and importance of quality hole tolerances
Experience drilling through aluminum, titanium, Inconel, composite stacks
Understand clean as you go techniques and need for general cleanliness
Experience in application of sealants, adhesives, paints, and primers
Basic digital literacy such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
Ability to pull holes
Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field
Demonstrated success as a hands-on doer and/or leader
Work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with constantly evolving roles and responsibilities
Continuous improvement mentality.
Experience in handling large aerospace components
Experience in assembling large tight-tolerance structures
Experience in new product introduction
Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment
Certification in Lean Manufacturing
Ability to lift to 50lbs
Responsibilities:
Build the forward and aft modules for the rocket
This is a boots-on-the-ground, hands-on-hardware, assembly technician role.
Interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions and test procedures
Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges and optical measuring instruments
Work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills, fields, and backgrounds
Communicate clearly and appropriately, in writing and in person
Repetitively climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas
Perform repetitive work, including lifting of items up to 35lbs
Operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, truck-trailer combinations, and other ground support equipment as required
Ability to support scheduled work shift (we rotate shifts occasionally) and work off-shift (2nd or 3rd shifts), extended hours, and weekends if/when vital
Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission
