Summary: Repairs and maintains mechanical and hydraulic components of production
machines and equipment (lathes, machining centers, grinders, chuckers, drills, gear
hobbers, etc) Install machinery and equipment in industrial establishment by performing
the following duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following
• Troubleshoots, diagnosis and correction of problems on machines and equipment
• Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas
• Inspects parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems
• Removes and replaces worn or defective parts
• Realigns and adjusts components for correct operation
• Repairs broken parts
• Moves and installs equipment such as mills, drill presses, lathes, broaches, and
presses
• Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures to
determine assembly of accessory parts to equipment, line connections, location of
air and oil filters, and pressure regulators
• Operates equipment such as hand hoist, drill presses, saws, ladders, grinders and
jacks in performing work
• Works on equipment in ceiling of plant which is 25 to 30 feet in height
• Dismantles machines
• Moves heavy machinery and equipment
• Assembles and installs equipment such as conveyors
• Constructs foundation for machines
• Aligns machines and equipment. Requires pushing, pulling, and twisting up to and
including several hundred pounds
• Assembles machines, and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to
foundation or other structures
• Operates lathe to grind, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications
• Must climb on, over and around machinery
• Performs building maintenance as assigned including floor maintenance
• Maintains boiler room equipment and emergency diesel motor and operations of
air conditioning system
• Welding and fabrication
• Responsible for practicing safety rules and maintaining good housekeeping

Must have ability and experience to perform periodic maintenance inspections of
conventional and CNC machinery and equipment in order to detect and correct wear, mis adjustment, or other defects before they lead to failure or operation that is below standard.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, procedures and prints.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all measure, using
whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete
variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a
variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Journeyman’s status or at least (8) eight years
bona fide skilled trades work experience

up to several hundred pounds which encompasses 10-15% of essential job function.
