Description:Certified Medical Assistant ($18.00 -$22.00 Per Hour)

Certificate must be obtained within six months of hire from one of these accredited Medical Assistant associations

CMA – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

RMA – American Medical Technologists (AMT)

RMA – American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)

RMA - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

RMA - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)

Qualified applicants will possess the following:

Excellent communication skills at the level necessary for taking patients' medical histories, understanding provider and supervisors' instructions, and for accurately documenting patients' medical information

Ability to effectively communicate with patient population and staff while demonstrating a high degree of diplomacy and tact Beginner to intermediate computing and phone skills

Demonstration of flexibility in regard to job duties and assignments with a willingness to travel to necessary office locations

Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment

Culturally sensitive and demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with ethnically diverse populations

Working knowledge of "Universal Precautions," always demonstrates professionalism

Possess a thorough understanding of the importance of confidentiality and non-disclosure according to the general standards set forth by HIPAA

Familiarity with community / service areaRequirements:

Requirements for Certified Medical Assistant

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, that includes an externship in a medical office clinical setting, required

Curriculum must include pharmacology and medication administration

(Certificate must be obtained within six months of hire)

Additional skills required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.

Job Responsibilities:

Reports to: Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Practice Manager, Clinical Manager, Clinical Supervisor

Facilities/Transportation: Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel when needed to all four clinical facilities, located in Las Vegas, NV, N. Las Vegas, NV and Henderson, NV.

Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned that may include:

checking schedules and organizing patient flow;

accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.;

collecting patient history;

performing screenings per provider guidelines;

assisting physicians/physician assistants with various procedures;

charting;

relaying instructions to patients/families;

answering calls, and providing pertinent information.

Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned that may include:

sending/receiving patient medical records;

obtaining lab/X-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.;

completing forms/requisitions as needed;

managing and updating charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately.

Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned that may include:

setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocols;

cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control;

cleaning equipment according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records;

sorting, storing supplies; and restocking exam/procedure rooms.

Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned including:

respecting/promoting patient rights;

responding appropriately to emergency codes;

sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor/manager.

Fulfills clinical medical assisting responsibilities that vary according to state law, which may include:

medical/surgical asepsis, sterilization,

checking vital signs or mensuration;

physical examination preparations;

clinical pharmacology;

drug administration through various routes including injections;

prescription verifications with physician’s orders;

biohazard waste disposal and monitoring;

therapeutic modalities;

instructing patients with assistive devices, body mechanics, and home care;

laboratory procedures including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines; quality control methods;

CLIA-waived testing; capillary punctures and venipunctures;

specimen handling such as urine, throat, and sputum;

electrocardiography including mounting, emergency triage, and first aid.

CMA must adhere to their scope of practice at all times.
