High Point University is seeking a part-time Physical Therapy Teaching Assistant. The Physical Therapy Teaching Assistant (TA) is responsible for assisting the Core Faculty member predominantly in the classroom. The TA is generally a physical therapist clinician who is interested in working more closely and more extensively with students while improving teaching skills under the mentorship of a Core Faculty member. While mainly helping with lab-based/experiential components of each class, the TA who shows aptitude may be called upon to deliver a lecture or a component of a lecture. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and a desire to develop and refine teaching skills. Term of employment is one semester but some TA’s may be hired for multiple semesters.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Licensed physical therapist from an accredited physical therapy program (bachelors, masters or doctorate)
On occasion, a new graduate who will sit for the national board examination in the near future will be considered
Experience and Training:
Clinical employment as a physical therapist
For the new graduate, successful completion of all clinical experiences
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
Expertise in the specialty area of physical therapy in which assistance with teaching occurs
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Didactic or clinical teaching
Assist Core Faculty member with student learning, evaluation and assessment
Maintenance of a clean and safe classroom environment
Other duties as directed by the Course Director
