Salary Information: $27.70 - $45.00/Hourly
Who We Are
Continental Maritime of San Diego, a Titan company, is a certified Master Ship Repair Contractor for the U.S. Navy. Our skilled professionals have performed hundreds of ship repairs for the Navy and Military Sealift Command. CMSD does repair on all types of major surface vessels including CVN, CG, and DDG, and all types of amphibious ships including LHD, LHA, LSD, LPD, and auxiliary ships. Our work also includes repairs and alterations to a wide range of Combatant, Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Habitability Systems.
Position Specifics
The Shipfitter Foreman directs personnel designated to their project(s) in all phases of planning and execution of assigned production work. This position is responsible for the successful execution of ship repair work packages including accountability for profit and loss. The Shipfitter Foreman ensures all activities are carried out in accordance with established specifications, budgets, and schedules.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to compose and transmit Inspection/Deficiency Report (IDR)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery
Demonstrated knowledge of US Navy/MSC/Commercial Ships and their systems
Excellent supervisory and leadership skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete reports and logs
US Citizenship if required
The ability to acquire a DBIDS credential is required
Education and Experience:
At least three (3) years of supervisory experience in ship repair is desired
High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements
Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Shop, shipboard, warehouse, industrial environment
May be exposed to fumes and irritants including welding/burning fumes, paints, oils, greases and various cleaning solutions and solvents, noise, high heat and humidity hazards while wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Frequently moves throughout the shipyard
Work at heights and in confined spaces
Must be able to ascend/descend stairs/ladders/ramps, aboard ships in shipyards under industrial conditions and in confined spaces
Must be able to move heavy equipment and boxes, weighing up to 40 pounds
May be exposed to rapid changes in microclimates, industrial processes, and other environmental factors while collecting data, providing direction, and observing performance of task teams
